After a 3' drop to concrete, the 3D printed Climax is shelved until I get some replacement parts. It's a crying shame, because I had just gotten the GP18 mechanism running well (not too shabby for an old Life Like) and I was adding lead #7 shot to the body in an effort to increase weight. The extra weight did some nasty physics stuff to the Frosted Detail plastic when combined with a concrete floor.
Cest la vie.
I'm never at a shortage of projects, so I broke out the second Minitrains loco, and began the process of converting her to a Forney. When the Toma boiler is added (see the gallery and earlier posts) it's a really good representation of Baldwin built WW&F #7, after she was extended. I'm also adding a printed pilot, which will give me the 2-4-4 configuration. I'm not going for prototype fidelity. I'm going for "that's pretty cool".
Behold! Looketh thou on mine field of rivets! Alas! Thou shall see that it is barren, for I shall count none.
Go build something awesome!
